Douglas Guthrie serves as Senior Vice President of Comcast’s Big South Region. In this role, Doug is the senior executive responsible for operations, financial performance and customer experience for one of the largest regions within the Company serving more than 2-million customers residing in Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia.
Doug has 30 years of experience in the communications industry, holding a variety of senior management, operations and marketing positions with Comcast and its predecessor companies, including AT&T Broadband, MediaOne and Continental Cablevision, where he began his career in Massachusetts in 1985.
His previous roles include serving as the Senior Vice President for the Houston Region, Senior Vice President for Comcast’s Western New England Region, and Vice President of Advanced Services for Comcast’s former Northern Division.
Doug is very involved in many industry and community organizations. He actively supports Atlanta’s Special Olympics and personally mentors three individuals. He is also a strong supporter of industry groups such as Women in Cable Telecommunications and the National Association for Multi-Ethnicity in Communications. Currently, he serves as the executive champion for Comcast’s Employee Resource Group for Black Professionals.
In Houston, Doug was a board advisor for the Texas Chapter of NAMIC in 2012. There, he was honored with the President’s Award for outstanding support to the growth of the organization.
A native of Western Massachusetts, Doug earned his bachelor’s degree in Communications from Bridgewater State University.
